  • Brake Power Booster

Pulled the spark plugs on my Avanti R2 to check color and found all looked good except #6 & 7 cylinders. #6 was quite light with some white deposit on the ground, while #7 showed a bit more grey but on the light side. This suggests a possible vacuum leak on the rear upper plane of the intake manifold and that pointed the finger at the brake booster even though the brakes have been operating normally (Turner conversion). Should I be able to pull a vacuum on the booster with a hand pump (Sears)? My initial attempt raised no vacuum.

Another way to check if the booster is leaking vacuum is to start the car and pinch off the vacuum line to the booster, if the idle smoothes out and slows down the booster is leaking.

Only problem is the car is "in storage" for the winter and I'm doing some maintenance checks. If the booster is faulty now is a good time to have it rebuilt.
