View Full Version : Atten 2 dr 56 wagon owners

Getting ready to put my headliner in and getting all my interior trim pieces together. Noticed I don't have a trim piece that goes above either door that would cap the headliner. I have the A piller(winshield) and the wide B piller that covers the front of the sliding window but nothing above the doors. I didn't think there was a piece until I seen the 58 wagon on e-bay this week. Can someone check or post a pic of above the door so I can see what it should look like. I was pretty confident my wagon was complete when I bought it and don't think I lost anything. Thanks.

Here you are:
Driver's side:

Passenger side:

Hope that helps.:) Also note that there's none of those chrome straps holding the headliner up either.

thats what I remember. Is the rubber part of the door weatherstrip or is it a filler piece on it's own?? Thanks

Looking at it closer it looks like cloth or is it rubber that has a C notch and caps the headliner. I assume the door weatherstrip is something completely different. Is this cloth/rubber still sold???

Yeah, there's no reveal moulding above the front door. I'd like to know where they got the bogus stainless bows in that '58. Hard to tell, but they LOOK like they've got the same cross-section as the beltline mouldings used on '59-60 Larks. Of course, I doubt you could bend such to fit the roof countours.[8]

The 56 Nomads had the chrome bows. Maybe that were they got them.

Is the light cover above the drivers side door available? Is there any other models that used that cover. I don't have one. If they are hard to find I will just leave it out of the headliner.

As soon as you find a product you like they will stop making it.

Those Dome Light Lenses show up all the time a swap meets, most used as they are quite hard to find new, but do show up very seldom on ebay.
There is also a "Body and switch" required.

However, that pointy one is a 1953-1957 item, changed to a new plastic/stainless one in 1958. Yours gets a map light on the dash, and one rectangular one over the rear backlight. You would need to add the bracket in the roof.

Edit: Oh sorry ST2DE, I had no clue all that jumbled up letters & numbers was not about your '48! ...You do have 2 '56's! so you have the bracket.

Yes this dome light was for sure on a 55 and 56. they are not that hard to find. I just added an extra one to my wagon on the pass side. The condition of the chrome on the used ones is the key. The brackets are not that hard to get once you find someone willing to go out in their parts yard and remove it. There are three parts to this light. The lens and crome bezel is one, The light socket housing is another, and the roof bracket is the third. As I mentioned alond with others the lens and bulb socket pieces are always on e-bay. The bracket takes a little hunting. Good luck.

I have the bracket that the light is in but no cover. Yes I have 2 56s. One is a wagon Parkview and the other a 2 door sedan.

I have a extra socket and switch assembly and a chrome bezel you can have for postage but the lens is gone and the chrome is rough. Let me know if you want it I will send it to you.

Ken, you mean to say all this is just about WINDLACING? I thought everyone over 30, knew at least all '47-'66 cars had those! [:0]

Any upholstery shop has that by the mile! Of course to get it to fit a Studebaker it needs an attach strip added.
