Hello group,
Does anyone have a 6-volt generator for our '54 Commander Starliner who could bring it to Reedsville? I'm planning on being there on Saturday.
Last night while driving home from New Jersey, the generator on Grace gave up the ghost. Boy, do I hate driving in the rain, and with the headlights significantly dimmed, driving was even worse. We made it to my brother's place north of Allentown and parked her in the barn, and then confirming that yes indeed, the generator had packed it in and gone south. He lent me their old, 200,000-mile Saturn to get the rest of the way home (arrived at 1:30 AM this morning -- ugh!)
While this generator might be rebuildable, I won't know for sure until I pull it and take it to Fleet Electric in Harrisburg, PA. I've decided that cheap insurance will be to have a spare to guarantee that I'll never have another generator failure (you know, if you don't want it to rain, carry an umbrella with you).
I'll probably arrive in Reedsville sometime around 11 AM or Noon.
Oh yeah, and if anyone has a rebuildable rear draft Stromberg WW carb for our car, I'm looking for one of them, too. The top of the bowl on the spare that I have is so badly warped that I don't think I can rebuild it.
Please contact me off list.
Kindest regards,
Alan Mende

I'm not a mechanic; I don't even play one on TV.
