I started my 50 Champion and ran the motor for about a minute. Then I shut it off and tried to start it again. The starter would not engage but it did whirl. Is it the solenoid or the starter?

starter drive. or bendix as some call it. It's possible it could be cleaned. Try letting it spin a few seconds and try again for a few times

Well I took out the starter and spray WD-40 into it until I was able to see that it was working properly. I put it back in and was able to start it about 20 times or more without it sticking.Comment
