I recently purchased the paint chips for 1950 autos and realized that it does not have yellow any where on it. Did Studebaker offer a yellow 1950 Stude? I know all the advertisements show one, but there is no yellow on the Sherwyn Williams paint chip sheet.

You can't go by the brochures. I think the artists had their own ideas!

Yellow (Tulip Cream code P-2216, 2227) was (supposedly) a convertible-only color offered later in the 1950 production year. The color was available as early as 1941 according to my charts. But I don't know why it was dropped from early-production 50's. Several non-convertibles are also reported to have been painted that color. I can't remember if they used production orders to verify the originality or not.

Either way... the modern formula I used for it is 1987 Cadillac SUN-GOLD. I painted a 1950 Starlight Coupe that color. The color is very-very-very close...

In-depth research by Fred Fox indicates this was a legitimate color for non-convertibles as well, except for Custom trimmed models (F1, C1, W1, etc). However, it was discontinued on May 1, 1950.

The 1978 Cadillac Colonial Yellow is a spot on match.

The formula for Snowcap White in Dupont Chromabase is on my tech-pages:
