  • Disappointment...

Well, I thought today was the day the Lark would fire up. I got the distributor in and the wires on, hooked up my remote starter switch and connected the battery. Left the coil wire off just to make sure she'd spin.

I hit the remote switch and instead of hearing "RRRrrrRRRrrrRRRrrr" I heard "rrrr..." and it stopped turning. Tried starting it with the key and got only the solenoid clicking. [:0]

My brand new Sears battery was dead. Put it on the charger and sure enough... 12.5 volts, nearly no amps.

So I guess I'll try again tomorrow. [B)][8]

        SBK--

If your Lark isn't updated with an internally regulated alternator, check the voltage regulator...it may be doing unspeakable things to your battery. Betty, my 62, gave me fits until I got a good regulator to replace the squiffy one; she's been reliable as the dawn since (including trundling round the region today for the heck of it)...

        Cheers

I went to Sears this AM and they replaced the defective battery. Put it in and the engine turned over nicely and made plenty of spark! Can't do any more because it's Bible study night, but tomorrow - in goes the gas, baby!!!!
