Went to the last show of the season at the VFW close to us. They sponsor a cruise night throughout the summer and end it with a judged show and include a free meal. We were the only Studebaker out of 60 plus vehicles, in fact we were the only orphan car We received a 2nd place with our '41 Champion streetrod in the 40 to 48 modified class. Our car was by no means worthy, as the other 6 contestants had nicer cars I thought, but hey we'll take it. An extra added bonus was a writer for the local newspaper came by and wanted to do a feature on our car in an upcoming Saturday automotive section and took lots of pictures and will be coming to do an interview later this week. His comment was "I have been doing so many weekly stories lately about GM muscle cars its time for something different". Made my day and gets Studebaker some publicity and hurray for that.

Superb!
Proves once again that you have to be out there and be talking with people...
You never know who that guy or gal really is, or who they might talk to later on....
Make sure to ask them for some extra copies (and a digital copy) for your own use.
I did a show at 'The Villages" in Florida last year and I called the local paper to 'tease' the Studebaker aspect of the show.
They had me write a short info piece about Stude's and the SDC.
There was a big article timed to hit the day of the show.
Next thing you know the local TV crews shows up at the show, and the whole Stude gang made the nightly news.
Made my day[|)]..
(Just like this is going to make yours!:D)
Congrats again!

Yes Joe this will be in the Saturday edition of the "World Herald". Which week the guy did not know as he is a freelancer. The World Herald stuff can be seen at omaha.com but not everything. When it comes out I could scan it but that would probably be illegal because that would be conscrued as copyright infringement.:( I will ask if there is a way to access it though.

As if!! [:0]

I've seen that car. It is worthy up against ANYTHING.

I've also raced it and it kicked my butt something fierce.

Congrats Frank!! [^] [8D]

A statement not entirely true folks, the actual score is 1 loss -1 win. Need to give credit where credit is due. S2D did good.:)

The local "Omaha World Herald"s almost full page article about our Studebakers was in the automotive section this morning Nov.1st It is a little feature called "in Gear" Ever since about midmorning I have been taking calls from folks in the area that have memories of Studebakers in their families and want to reminish.:) Some offering parts for sale etc.[:p] It was a good day in this area for Studebaker.:D I tried to see if it could be seen on omaha.com but could not find it.:( As I said before it is copyrighted and it is too large to post anyway. It shows a picture of our three cars and one 8x10 of the '41 by itself with the wife and I pretending to dust the car.

:( Phooey! I'm not exactly Mr. Surf City on the internet, Frank, but just spent several minutes wandering around The Omaha World-Herald website, trying to find a link to that story. It seems like you have subscribe for one week as a print subscriber to have access to The Woirld-Herald E-mail edition.

Oh, well, I'm sure the article was well-received, and thanks for giving the Studes all the exposure. Your little '41 sure deserves it! Congrats! :DBP

The way I read it Bob is that you have to be a seven day a week subscriber to have access to the electronic version.:( That leaves me out as we only take it on the weekends.I was so hoping everyone here could see it as the author did such a bangup job on it. Oh well.

Hmm ... wish we could read that story, Frank, but since they've gone the route a number of other papers have trod, I guess we'll just have to enjoy hearing about it.

Oh ... one more thing for a chuckle: When my Dad was stationed at Offutt AFB in the mid-'70s, he and his USAF buddies referred to the World-Herald as the Weird-Herald! I don't know if that was just the guys being silly or if that's some sort of widespread joke from back then, but I remember when I was a kid that made me laugh.

That's great, Frank! The car is only one reason you got it in print. If you were like some of the brand x guys out there who were less personable, you wouldn't have impressed the writer with your exuberance for Studebakers. Great Stude P.R.-you deserve it.

That name evidently stuck Jacob because we still call it that sometimes.

Glad they did a great article. Frank has very nice cars all around and can be pleased with the exposure. Looking forward to seeing the clip as well.

Just got back from buying up a bunch of Studebaker literature all because of someone reading the article locally. The same person wants to buy a Studebaker and join the club.:) A copy of the article is on its way to you Denny (green 53)so people in the Grand Canyon Chapter we belong to can see it. So yes, media exposure definitely is a good thing.

Nice article, had to dig my copy out of the recycle bin to read it:) I usually do not look at the automobile section outside of the old cars for sale up toward the front

I guess a number of us here in Nebraska call the Omaha World-Herald the Weird Herald because... we just do:) Well, it is the Nebraska paper to subscribe to if one wants to read some news in the morning.

Articles in the paper do bring people out of the woodwork. I bought my nice 63 Champ pickup from some folks who saw my name in the World Herald. They kept the article 5 years before calling me. I probably miss that truck more than any Stude that I have sold. I sold it to cover the cost of the Tomato. I understand the truck is in South Carolina. 63 SWB, light blue, 259, 3 speed od. Has anyone ever seen one like that down there.
