  • Hunnert Car Pileup in Morris IL

Yesterday was the annual Hunnert Car Pileup in Morris, IL. The car show is customized for the custom, rat rod, modified, what have you, anything goes kind of car enthusiast . As such you will see some of the wildest pieces on four wheels (or two) that share the blacktop. This is a great show to go to, especially if you're looking for street rod or street rod items to deck out your ride that may not be found most anywhere. I took a number of photos using the better camera. To save space here are some of the killer rides that were in the show, notwithstanding the Studebakers as well. [8D]

This is a big show, this is also a breather for the monster show that will go on later on today in the same vicinity over on the east side of Morris [)]

Somewhere along the lines I think this might be first for this particular body style. It sports a nice wooden interior with room for a TV/DVD/Stereo in the center of the extension. [}]

This is a sharp little truck with that color. The body style should look vaguely familar to a few of you. [)] It was also sporting this neat little trailer that had a just as neat little go kart with a motorcycle engine propelling it (out of frame)

That's a Stude alright!! [^] That is a Studebaker V8 coupled to a Flightomatic 3 spd (which had an aftermarket floor shifter on top) which was coupled to a Ford 9 inch out back. The suspension was a Plymouth tubular piece that was tossed out and he took it and bolted it above the frame rails. What's interesting is many of the parts are items other rodders have no need for, so with a little imagination, it made for a pretty cool little street rod. Yes, he did say that it does get a little wet when it rains....[:I]

These are some other cars and trucks that were around at the show today. A couple of other Studebakers were at the show today that I didn't post above. Ken Evans had his "Ute"(Those of you remember him from Lancaster) at the show today. That's a neat car, and boy it really gets around!! All in all it was a good day yesterday, now on with the main act today !! [)]

    Thanks for posting the pic's.
That show started out as an excuse to go hang out for a Saturday and has grown like wildfire.
The attitude is just to have fun.
Does their ad still say "No billet aluminum allowed"?[|)]
    It's on my 'someday' list..

I too have heard about this show as it keeps growing on the grape vine.
Not too sure about the no billet.
But in some cases I've seen, the more DENTS and faded/suede paint the BETTER.

"Ken Evans had his "Ute"(Those of you remember him from Lancaster)"

John, thanks for the pictures. Looks like a great get together. If you see Ken again, tell him I said hello and thanks for the extra hands with my filter change on concours day. Not sure how it got on so tight, but a trip to Advance Auto Parts was finally needed. Hope he finally got his driver's side rear trim to stay on.

Never been but heard plenty about it. The only show you can go to and find a roadster with a straight Olds 8 engine. Or even Studebaker powered.

Jeff, I don't think they have changed the rules. They want cars that weren't built from a catalog.

As far as I know they still retain the rules on what can come in. The sign is still at the door in all its glory, although I didn't look at it this year [)]. Yeah this show has just exxxploded over the past few years. It used to just encompass a small area of the fairground with no more than maybe 20-30 cars. However now it has taken over all of the fairgrounds, and they're still hauling them in [}]. This is indeed a fun show to go to, whether its looking for parts or just looking at the unique models. The humor is today they had the be all to end all show at the chemical plant on the east side of Morris. This show has also filled up its space in the last couple of years, and its gotta be 3X the size of the show yesterday. The nice thing is the show yesterday and today are basically the last hurrah until next January, so that means I gotta find something else to do on Sunday(don't answer that, lol). [:I]
