Ok, I would like to know just how many 58 cars are owned by the forum members. THis is mostly for Commander, President, Scotsman, Champion, and Proventials but if anyone with a hawk or a truck wants to respond that is OK too. I would like to know what model you have and what body style. OH, Packards are welcome as well!

That's interesting Dylan, but after you part it out what will be left?
Do you have another '57 or '58 Stude. to put the parts on? What body style do you have?

Good luck with your project, we'd like to see a pic some time.

That's my wife and me in the front seat. I've had it (the car, not the wife) for about 20 years - bought it at York.

Hi Studerich,

The car has a serious rust issue. some one started to fix it up at one point so it has a ton of good parts on it including still solid new replacement floor pans. But at some point a tree fell on it [v] so we are putting some of the mechanicals in my Dads 1962 4 door and the front floor pans in my 1961 4 door wagon. the rest of the parts will go into our parts stash :D and the totally stripped hulk will be hauled off for scrap.

I'd be interested in seeing this one as well!!! Any chance we could get you to post some pics? Many folks here would like to see it, I'm sure. Doing so may even help you off some of the parts you don't plan to keep for the Lark... [:0] ;) :)

I'd also like to hear from both of you concerning my Registry~

Anyone else who hasn't already done so should do it too!!! There has not been much progress due to my Retirement, job search, and (pending?) move- but there will be something happening over the Winter- I promiss!!!

I've been saying it for years, and I'll say it again: "58's Are Classics Too!". That year was the high point(no pun intended) of the tailfins n' chrome era in American cars. Soon after, Aluminum moldings and boxier shapes started to take over. I'd like to see an aftermarket manufacturer produce a kit to add tailfins and stainless steel/chrome-plated zinc moldings to retro style toyota camrys and ford focus and other popular cars. [}:)]

I don't own a '58 (yet), but I do own a '58 shirt!
Acouple of weeks ago we were perusing the sales at the clothing shops at "our" beach, Grand Bend, Ontario. At one shop my son noticed a "Hawaiian"-type shirt that had a re-occurring picture of a car prominently in the pattern. Good Golly - a '58 Packard hardtop!!!
(In red with a black top and tan with a black top).Needless to say I bot one (it WAS on sale)!
The label just says "K'WAR" and the tag says Style # TP0801, CA#31500.
Unbelievable. Maybe I'll wear it at Lancaster.

Hey, I'd buy a '58 if I could figure how to get those ugly fins and stupid headlights off without making it looked scalped. I'M JOKING!

I really like the instrument panel on the '58 and the lack of mud-catcher vents on the fenders. Why didn't they think of that sooner? I've always thot it was amazing what they did with the '53 to make it last not only thru '58 in just about the same form but even thru the Lark by lopping off a few hundred pounds. That '53 was SOOOOME car!

But getting back to the '58, didja ever notice how much longer the '58s (especially Packard) look compared to the '57? Only LOOKS longer tho.

There's a '58 Champion out in my granddad's boneyard. Pretty rough..

We're planning on going back down to Stephen Cade's place in a week or so to pick up his '58 Transtar.

Don't think there's anymore '58's here. :)

Have you all looked at the photo shows that Guida and 60Silvehawk have posted? Man, that gold 'n white 58 Commander hardtop is gorgeous. So's the President version that Jeff got a shot of.

Still (and forgive me for re-repeating myself), that Commander - with that sweeping, long side moulding... MAN that looks good![:p]

None of these is mine, alas...but here are four '58s, all seen at the Crossroads Zone Meet...The two Commanders, at least, are SDC Hamilton Chapter members' cars. Takes us slightly OT, I guess, but I thought the forumites would like to see these 58s...

I know. A few other things that are tipping me off are the tail lights (what I can see of them) the trim on the fin and the trim around it...
Did someone really put all of that on a Commander, or is it a President with the wrong nameplate?
