Someone told me that Silver Hawks were only made until 1959, and that after that they were just Hawks. Is that true? If so, are there any differences?

It is just a name only change Jerry, of course there are the normal year model changes.
'60 and '61 "Hawks" have maroon, round Hawk emblems, the Hawk script moved to the front of the fin, 289 engines were made standard on the South Bend produced cars, in '61 4 speed manual floor shifts with bucket seats were added as an option, and a double fin moulding was used on the fin with a Beige color stripe on all color cars, silver painted wheels were used etc. etc. etc. [^]
Sounds like you may need to join the SDC, so you will be getting the monthly publication Turning Wheels! All of the classes of first, second and third place winners in the car show are shown in the International Meet Edition every year, and also pics of local and area "Zone Meets" so you can see what all the years of Hawks look like.
