OK, I have to ask...what is a Hawk typer R3 emblem? Would this not be the same as the Lark type emblem?

No, there are several styles, 63 and 64 and for the different grills.(shape of the back for 64 Lark) A 64 Hawk R3 badge sold for over $400 a few years back so you my need to trade a half dozen R2 badges.

And the typical cost for a '64 badge for a Lark type?

Lark type R1/R2 maybe $100, R3, 3 or 4 times that. If you've spent 20K or more to clone a R3 engine, the badge is not that expensive after all.

Of course, there is no such thing as a factory R3 Hawk.
