  • Recliner front seat adjustment

    I am restoring a 59 lark hardtop.
For the front seat I have recliners.
This car did not come with these and when I installed the backrest it is leaning way too far back.
Is there a way to adjust/correct the home position on these?
I did look in the shop manual and it does not say anything about adjustment on these.
    Thanks
    Paul

Might be worn recliner parts. The brass part does strip.

If the parts are either new or in excellent condition, I would guess that there was just some installation error.

Stude Int. has those parts among many other vendors, but Gary is right, but even installed correctly they sometimes go in fine, however you have to wiggle them with the handle, holding the seat back and forth, getting it in just the right position to lock and match the other seat. Reclining seats have come a long way since that design and the fun part is even with new parts it may just go back a notch while you are driving. Oh, that's a riot. [V]

          Thanks for the replies.
I got tired of playing with them and converted them to non recliners.
