Took the Avanti out over the weekend & the bottom of the Reservoir tank was spewing all over. Removed it and took it to a radiator shop I know. He took it apart and found small rust holes on the bottom. Anyone know where I may be able to find one, part 1555873 .

They pop up on ebay now and then. Why can't he separate it at the seam and braze the holes or patch it from the inside?

He'll do that if I can't find a replacement. I thought that with the amount of 63 & 64 Avantis still around, someone might be reproducing them.

Repair yours, decent used are not all that common. Might as well work the dents out when the top is off too.

I had mine repaired back in 1995 and it was only a year or two ago that it began to leak at the base where it lays against the water manifold. The tank after the repair seemed much stronger than factory. If he "rebuilds" it you might end up with a superior tank as opposed to one that has yet to leak.

I have since removed the tank but I miss that vintage look.

Don, sent you an email. I agree with you John, I'll probably end up having him repair it but, I think he feels that they are available and cost as much new as it would be to repair it.

The only trouble I have with getting one off Ebay or a used one is that it can be in the same shape as mine or worse. I'm going to the Lancaster meet so, I can look around there if not, off to the repair shop it goes.
