This car wasn't at Sebring, but Daytona, rather.

LOVE that picture, and the car- really cute!![:X]

I bet it looked pretty funny among the big, tough-looking cars of the day... sort of like a poodle trying to run with a pack of Dobermans[)]

Also, it wasn't 1966, but around 1961 or 1962 NASCAR was running sports cars as a part of Speed Week. The Pettys had a 225" Valiant with the HyperPak which was almost as fast as the Larks. The Valiant slant-six sawed itself in half, as the long-stroke five-main bearing engine did not like 7500 on the high banks. One or more of the Larks may have been prepared by Holman and Moody. The 259" Larks were fast, but the Jaguar 3.8l (232") twin-cam six-cyl sedans were faster.

And I would imagine the Jags handled somewhat better.

FYI: Get your own picture at Mission Raceway in Mission, BC Canada this weekend. The #11 Daytona should be there along with any type of vintage race car you can think of that survives to still race today.........
I'll be there too getting photos of it kicking @ss. He really has it dialed in now. MIKE
