  • Windshields-2piece/one piece?

Why do I see Studebakers older than mine with one piece windshields and my 50 Champion has a two piece one. It seems to me that once it was "discovered" that nice one piece windshields could be made and used that all cars after that would have had them.

I don't know the why, but I do know that the one piece windshield was sort of phased in a little at a time. I think the sedans were the last to go to one piece, but maybe someone else can add details.

I believe the Starlight Coupes, Convertibles and Land Cruisers were fitted with the one piece "bent" windshields a year or two before they were standard on all models.

On post-WWII models, the one-piece windshield was only on Starlight coupe, convertible and LC thru '50. From '51 on, they were all one-piece.

I've seen it on SOME pre-war models, LC only, I think, but possibly some couple models as well.
