  • Finally !!! A "real Stude" owner

Got home early this morning with the culmination of a 2 year search. Here's a pic Greg took of me driving her up on the trailer.

Thanks, Greg, for a smooth transaction and accurate description. I know it was hard for you to turn her over to me, but she's in a good home, hopefully for a long time.

Best wishes with your "new" 1963 Studebaker. I like Avantis with blackwall tires.

That looks like a handy trailer. Is that a straight tilt bed or a roll/slide back bed?

Congratulations on the purchase of your 2nd Avanti especially since it is an R-2. I know you will enjoy it. Also since you are now a two Avanti family why not join the Avanti Owners Association International, receive the award winning Avanti Magazine and get all of the technical information you'll ever need. In addition there are a lot of great people who own these cars along with other fine Studebaker vehicles. Also why not bring ot to Lancaster and be a part of a great International Meet?

Nice car, Jim! Turquoise is my favorite Avanti color, and although I know there were a lot of running improvements to Avantis and many think the later '64's are better, I like the round headlights, fender "Supercharged" emblems, and non-woodgrain interiors of '63's better.

Is that the one with ultra-low miles? GREAT investment piece- WAY more fun than an IRA[8D]

The trailer is a straight tilt with a 4' platform at the front that does not tilt.

Actually, Don, I'm already a recent AOAI member. Took advantage of the special pricing and got all available back issues of the magazine, too. I have to watch and not read too close to bedtime cause they get me all wound up thinking about plans for our big sister/little sister Avanti's.

I was not thrilled about the 680 mile trip home with this car on an open trailer. Got forced out of my lane several times by gawking drivers. Guess where you tend to steer your car - where you're looking!!

Add 10 minutes to every fuel stop too. Takes that long to wade through the people asking questions.

At least the weather cooperated. Stayed dry.

Looking at an enclosed trailer, so there's no telling where we'll show up.

Lancaster probably won't happen this year but I'll be on the lookout for other gatherings.

Beautiful car. I wish the pictures were of that car rolling onto MY trailer instead. That is my all time favorite Avanti. WOW, good job.

Pretty neat, Jim. A VERY special car.

Also, this could be one of the first times that a Studebaker has actually sold due to a posting here on the forum by the owner. Also pretty neat [^].

Like I told my wife, stocks aren't doing anything to set the world on fire right now, and I already tried putting stock certificates in the garage and staring at them. This is way easier on the eyes. I just knew if I messed around and sat on my hands, I would really regret not making the road trip to Minnetonka to see it. Greg was really straightforward in his description. Of course, it's easy to list the flaws when you can count them on one hand.

Jim, your collection is looking just like mine. As I also have an R-2 along with a 73 Avanti II as well as a T-cab P/U lie the one I see in your last trailer picture. Looks like a great collection. As for the trailer is it Steel or Aluminum? Looks like it is easy to load. As for the drive get used to the lookers and the conversationalists at the Gas Pumps. It happens all of the time and you just have to keep doing your thing talk and leave. Try taking two Avanti somewhere sometime as it gets even more interesting. Sure wish I could convince you to come to Lancaster. Thanks for joining AOAI as you will enjoy it.

Why didn't I think of that?
