  • 64 CHALLENGER OR DAYTONA-PEDAL BRACKET

On a 64 Challenger or Daytona, what is the difference between part number 1557984 and 1557985, which are pedal support brackets?
What I need to know is on these cars with an automatic transmission, can I just install the other pedals to make it stick shift?
    Thanks

This is from the 1965 parts catalog and shows the difference between the automatic and standard.

Looks like the difference in parts is that the 1108-27 for the stick has an extra bracket at the rear to hold the clutch return spring or something to do with the extra pedal.

The pin that goes thru the bracket on the automatic is replaced by the shaft built into the clutch pedal in the upper picture

Yeah, I just recently had both items on the bench here before Dick S. took them with the Daytona project. Pretty stout pedal return spring for the clutch, but you could easily fudge one with a piece of channel iron.

OR...it is not THAT hard to find the complete assembly from a '61-'66 Std. Trans. parts car with the dash brace/pedal support included!

Thanks to all for your answers. I think you all answered my question that it is not hard at all to switch it over.

I am just going to be using the automatic one that I got from Mr. Biggs and will be returning the stick shift one to him. If he wants to sell it, you could contact him.

I converted my 64 to standard and made all the parts so it is not a big deal....I just used another automatics brake pedal and cut the foot piece short and hung it in the clutch position.

No problems and I am running a small block with a Hays 5000 pound 12 inch street and strip clutch.
