  • 63 Gt Carburator-Carter AFB 2312 OK?

My son has a Carter four barrel # 2312 he took off his 63 Corvette. It was
for a 67, Corvette 327. Would this be OK for replacing the two barrel
on my 63 Hawk GT? What adapters would be needed or manifold ??
    Thanks.

If its for a 327, its going to be pretty closely setup for an engine
about the size of your Hawk. Its not going to work perfect swapped
right onto your Hawk, but it will be close enough you wont notice if
there is a problem. "Problems" would be jetted too rich or too lean.
You'll need to have your manifold bored out to fit an AFB, no adapter
is going to make a 4 barrel carb fit a 2 barrel manifold, the holes
are just not there. There is a vendor that sells 2 barrel manifolds
that are machined to fit an AFB, I think they offer a core discount.
You will also need the 4 barrel linkage, or can modify your own setup.
I have a WCFB manifold modified to fit an AFB, it works pretty good.
I also have an R1 carb from my Avanti that will be left over once I go
to the Edelbrock carb I have from my Hawk.

Jeff Rice (I think) modifies two bbl manifolds to four bbl. Unfortuneately I'm having a senior moment and can't remember his company's name. Maybe someone else will. Still, it's the easiest fix for your engine. Elsewise you will need a four bbl manifold for that carb.

      By the by, nice car.[8D]

Thank you all for the help.

          Tom.
Sometime in the near future I'd like to get you to look over my Hawk
and advise the next series of restoration steps I should take.
I will clean up the AFB and overhaul. I think I may opt for a new AFB manifold
so , I have the option of easily going back to the stock set up.

Most things important are now working--current problem is a intermittent signal swiitch.
We pulled the steering wheel and the switch is worn out. The Type C switch replacement
          is hard to find.

I think NAPA carries one for a Chrysler that can be easily adapted.
