That's great Clark thanks for sharing that!

The vintage pics of the cars looking correct are always the BEST! [^]

It's kinda funny the first Starlight Coupe will get there before the driver!

That looks like the Stude. foundry and it's coal supply in the background ! Cool! [^]

Kinda odd, methinks, that the two K-bodies have their door glasses half way down and the vent wings open. And it looks like the coupe's door glasses are all the way down with vents swung open some.

Why are the side windows down, and what's with the black wheels on the light painted lead car ? Nice "Speedster" caps on the hardtop too.

          Staged photo?
That would account for the windows and why one car has hubcaps.

Maybe they were trying to get some of that "new car smell" to block out the smell coming out of the stacks in the backround!!! [)] I wonder if it worked? [:0]

Here's another question~ why does that hardtop in the center have it's antenna all the way up [?] [?] [?]

Did the radio antenna's come installed from the factory? I worked for a ford dealership in 59 and a buick dealership in 60. these cars cam without antennas installed even if they had radios.

After studying the front car I believe the most likely combination that seems to fit the three different shades apparent is Ivory Mist over Maui Blue, which would have come with Nocturne Blue wheels.
The highly optioned second car if not a staged photo might have been dolled up as a show car. If they really did leave the windows down, it must have been a short trip. Chicago perhaps?

The front car was probably painted Maui Blue with Nocturne Blue wheels, judging from the same color top. My fathers '53 coupe was this color. Also the Speedster Hubcaps were an option for '53.

I think what appears to be the antenna may be a crack or crease in the picture. I can see a similar one above the C car on the truck behind and it is not in an antenna location

I agree with Pat- that's not an antenna but a crack, like the one over the upper car to the far right.

Love those old photos! I betcha a nickel Leonard's got it too!

The windows open may have been for a short haul. It keeps you from getting locked out when you leave the keys in the cars, as would have been done in transport in those days. It also keeps the cars from getting too hot inside.
I can see the center car having the wire covers on it because they bolt on with the wheel. I am surprised that the center caps would have been installed.

I dunno, I think I'd have to agree with Dave on that being an antenna, it looks to me like there is a dark colored antenna base below the antenna! And it makes sense that it would have a factory installed Radio and antenna, look at those front bumper corner guards and what appears to be an exhaust extension on the right rear (really can't tell)! Talk about fully LOADED! [^]
