  • a little starter help

I mentioned on the forum a few days back I had bought a 53 sedan. (the pink rusty commander on ebay) I hav freed the engine and have it started. It is slow to start when hot. I haven't rebuilt the starter yet, but I am going to. Before I do, could anyone tell me their experience with putting four fields in the starter? I already have all the correct large cables, good connections, etc. I have used a pontiac around 52, housing with four fields to do this, but they would probably be like hens teeth now. Anyon know of any other that would fit, or about putting four fields in the stude.

Back in the good old days we used to use the 49-55 Cad. Ambulance starters and put the Stude snout on them.

Thanks Alan. This will help. Has anyone else went for the 4 field starter mod recently?
