There I was wrenching on my 65,when i could not remember the routing of the headlight wires,So I toss the hood open on the 66 for comparison. While glancing around in there I note the body has 3 tags screwed to the firewall. The one is V-P8,the second reads 5007,and hanging above that, but held on by the same screw as the other 2,it reads "SLDG ROOF". Yes it is a Wagonaire, just I have never seen one of those tags before. The 65 reads SF4 on the first tag,and 1004 on the other. Kinda neat in a trivial way.

Some years ago, a Stude vendor of note (and no, I won't say who) let me fondle a body tag he has in his possession. It reads:
63V-J8
1963
[:0][^]
Miscreant Studebaker nut in California's central valley.
1957 Transtar 1/2ton
1960 Larkvertible V8
1958 Provincial wagon
1953 Commander coupe
1957 President two door
No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

Ran across a 63S F2 in a junk yard on the south side of Hotlanta a couple of years back...body tag 102.[:0] Should'a grabbed the tag anyway. Didn't have room for the car.

While I haven't ordered the build sheet yet, I am fairly confident that my car is an original 4-spd. In any case, it would be nice to have one.
I did find the body color paper tag behind the glove box. It confirmed my guess as to the original color. It was so fragile that subsequent work on the glovebox destroyed it. It shouldn't be too difficult to reproduce (if I was so inclined, but I have no such ability when it comes to reproducing the secondary body tag.

My 63 Hawk doesn't have a 4 speed tag although it was made with one. Couldn't a resorceful one make some dies from fiberglass & press some tags out? The metal on the tags is usually pretty thin.

Why would you want to add the tag to a 4 speed car if the factory did not ? Most 4 speed cars did not have the tag, mostly earlier cars in my experience wre so equipped.
