does anyone have an idea of the real conpresion of a 36 dictator 3a 6 cylinder...

    thanks mike[8D][8D]

    It's a low compression engine,about 6.3 to 1.

What exactly are you trying to diagnose? This engine was 90 hp new in a 2910-3120 lb automobile.Do your compression check dry,if the cylinders are all about the same you should be ok,if not add a shot of oil in the low ones and retest,if they come up it's ring time,if not look for burned valves or blown head gasket. Nice pic

Ideally, it would come in at 105lbs. or very close. But something less can still provide a respectable performance. What's key is that all the readings are within a 15% range of variance.
Another key point is that the car's cranking system is up to snuff so that the engine spins adequately while doing the compression check.
As has been reviewed here numerous times, these 6volt vehicles often end up with a wrong-sized battery or starter cable thru the years and that (or dirty connections) can make a dramatic effect on the way an engine spins with the starter. Low cranking speed can make a difference in the readings you get while doing a compression test. [^]
