water manifolds question

what is the difference between the avanti water manifold and the normal v8 water manifold? is the avanti unit aluminum? is there a shape differance? thanks, rich

[1956 Hawk]

The Avanti water manifold sticks out a lot further than the standard one. Also the supercharger bracket attaches to the side, instead of the top.

I you are taking about the Avanti car manifold you have your answer. If you are talking about the R2 Lark/Hawk manifold, it is different too.

Good point, the Golden Hawk water manifold is also different from the later Hawk and Lark. As far as I know all non Avanti manifolds have the same pulley alignment with respect to the water pump, while the Avanti uses a considerably different crank pully.

The Avanti manifold is not aluminum- cast iron like all the others.
