The parts books I have don't show this number, AC 4002
Can someone tell me what the application is?
    It's a sill/scuff plate package.

George, if thats the one I saw on ebay, it looks like late 66 sill plate set. I knew they were available by themselves, but thats the first i've seen them as an accessory. My 66 daytona has those wide sill plates, but it was from late feb. 66 production & I just assumed it was a mid cycle change.

      Thanks Warren,

I'm thinking those would look good in my 64 Wagonaire when I get the floors done and new carpets!

According to the 1966 Part Catalog update, they are part#'s 1362270 on the two doors, and #'s 1362271 & 1362272 for four door models, and were only on cars equipped with carpeting. They were used in after serial numbers, C133677 and C534035.

Again, I've never seen them cataloged as an Accessory item, either.

How much wider are they? SASCO has all three part #s available for 30 bucks or less apiece.[]

A LOT wider Bob, they are 2 7/8 inches wide, just measured mine! [^]
They are ribbed Aluminum with a big hump along the inside edge to block the water, like they should have been in the first place!

This AC-4001 length is 1362270 and only fits 2 Dr's

The AC-4001 was a Scuff Plate Kit, with fasteners. But most have been lost or robbed now. [:0]

Any ideas on what the part numbers for the wide sills for the rear are?

My mistake - those were the part numbers for the front and the back. I misunderstood them as being for the left front and right front. I finally realized that they are interchangeable from side to side...

I stand corrected on them 'only equipped on cars with carpeting'. Appears these were an option on Commanders, hence, an Accessory item:

I can't say I've ever heard of a simple thing as sill plates being upgradable, unless one counts the lighted sill plates you can order extra on BMW's. :O

Those sill plates are 3 inches wide and 41 inches long for the 2 drs and 36 inches long for the 4 drs .
I just bought a set on ebay a couple of weeks ago and they sure are alot better then the narrow ones .

                      Thanks for the update.
I was outbid on that ebay ad.
And I would still like to find a
                      set of those sill
                      plates, new or used.
