Great cars, greatest people. I hope to see some of you out there next Sunday.

Your right. When I lived in So Cal that was the event that I always looked forward to.
Great bunch of folks, nice cars to look at,
and the park is a nice place as well.

Ditto all of that George! I too used to be a OEC Member and go every year, entered a car and had lots of fun tire kicking and chatting with people from all over the West Coast! [^]

We even take the 1300 mile Trek down there from here sometimes, but unfortunately it does not look good for this year. :(

Maybe I'll see Doug Hughes, Bill Oliver, Rubin Polanco, Warren Webb, John Metzker and others down there next year! :)

Another Old OEC member checking in. wish I could be there, but it's to far for me. Miss all of you guys. Hope to see some of you in Lancaster. Does anybody remember when The Orange Empire Chapter was Originally founded? According to the web site it seems to be later then I remember. Sure miss all of you.

I too always look forward to the La Palma meet!! Sorry you cant make it this year, Rich, but I'll try & hold down the fort for ya!
I do beleive the orange empire chapter was formed in 1969. If thats correct than next years meet should be their 40th anniversary! I have a glass at my "storage house" that has the 20th anniversary etched in it with the year, but its 65 miles from me right now.
Ross, i do believe your wife has seen my wife on the road while she was driving the provincial & mine in the 60 red lark. Hope to see y'all there!

Here is a little sneak peek. Had a good time, skies were cloudy, but no rain, and some sun early in the day. It was nice to see some old friends, and put some faces with forum members.
And a link to a few more pictures.

Yep...very nice day.
Nice meeting you Ross.
At least it wasn't in the 90's like it has been in the past. Weather was very nice...though it did get pretty cloudy and ugly a little after lunch. No rain...good..!

05-26-2008, 06:54 PM
Another spendid show. 100+ cars, several hundred Studebaker folks. I was wondering if my 40 mile trip would be in vain. My hats off the the people from San Diego, Bakersfield and the group from Arizona that challenged the rain threat and won. No rain for 34 years, but this was a close one. Thanks to the forum folks that attended.

Dave, thanks for the link. My Lark is in the background of some photos. Some very creative snapshots and worth a visit.

Hey Doug, I looked through all of Ross' pics and the Dave Linsay So. Cal.Culture website pics looking for a Lark in the background and barely saw any Larks in the FOREGROUND! I could't find your's anywhere. [V]

Are you still driving the Rose Mist '63 Lark Custom 2 dr. sedan with the '66 front clip and the GM 250? 6 Cyl. replacement for the 230 from the '66 Cruiser I parted out?

This guy takes great pics but a bit short on Larks! :(

I think I finally found my son Dave's 'Green '65 Cruiser behind the pic of the Red '62 Daytona Convertible, it's Pic #5 on Page 7, with Art Castle's '59 Deluxe 4 Dr. in the background, a Lt. Blue '61 4 Dr., a Brown '64 and probably Mike Van V's blue '54 Conestoga.

This must have been a record number of Studes. out in La Palma Park this year, looks really great, wish I could have been there, I see all my friends cars there, Alex's, Art's, Bud's and more! [^]

Update: Ahh, now I see it! It's behind that <s>ridiculous looking</s> (sorry, not how I would do it) shortened, tilt front end, Red '53 Coupe, I never would have opened that one!

Your Lark looks good, I've never seen it with those matching body sidemouldings on it!

I was suprised when photos from last years show appeared on some website. Someone detected my little ruse, and saw a 1966 front clip on a '63. I had someone catch it, while getting gas several months ago, even got the year correct.

Hope all is well in the Northwest.

Thanks Doug, still waiting for the RAIN to stop! :D :D

I've been up here 10 years now...still waiting! :(
