I hope I'm not gonna spoil anyones soup here, but I got the pics of this Champ yesterday and I think $5500 is a stretch. The brake and clutch pedals show quite a bit of wear (down to metal on the brake pedal), paint's worn thru on the steering wheel and the bed's been quite beat on it's floor. If this thing was parked in '64, it was a rough 66,000 miles before it was tucked away.[B)]

I tend to agree with you StudeBob (no offence intended to anyone[:I]), but there was a fairly nice '64 Champ recently on eBay that only got bid up to $3800 and it seemed to be in much better condition than this unit - which looks to me like it needs some TLC

Since I was the one to first speak negatively and since the poster's first posts here are an attempt to sell the truck, I wanna know what's wrong with a dose of truth?
I don't know how they (the sellers) came to the conclusion that they could hope to unload this Champ for $5500, but it's obvious that it's well off the mark.

Would I be so brazen if I were in their company - yeah, I think I would be. They could scoff and tell me to buzz off and I'd understand that response. Even if it is road ready as is intimated, it's still not worth $5500. Not to the informed anyways.

It wasn't too long ago that we had a gal come here to tell us about the 55 Champion she'd found for sale at some used car place. It was a sedan of some sort and was touted as being driveable or close to that. I think we saved her from getting shafted, pricewise. So would we remain mute while she bought it and then break it to her gently that she'd paid too much?

Not trying to be contentious here, Jerry. Just asking what approach you see us using to bring a dose of reality to such a situation. Looking at the wear and tear that's evident in those photos, I see more miles than 66K on it. You?

Any kind of vehicle can be improved with a '53 C-K front clip especially a '55 K.[}

It's possible the poster just had a exaggerated opinion of the trucks value. A polite comment or two is completely in line, just don't go off the deep end with low ball, sub 2K guesstimates.

Uh, Dave, I forgot to tell you Bams thought better of the deal once he got the shipping costs. You and I are buying the car, sorry for dropping that on you.

BTW, many on the forum lament the high prices, yet pass on cheap cars, at least Bams tried to snap it up, but the shipping made it less of a bargain in the long run.

Yes, I committed to the 52; and still would. I talked to Randy who was handling the sale. No one in the family has any interest in the car, they just need it gone. That's the prime formula for a trip to the crusher! Many times folks here call out to save a wayward Stude, but when an instance comes up where a rescue is needed, they get awfully quiet...

When no one stepped up, I agreed to do so for the love of the marque- even though it's not what I'm looking for, and even though I've got several here looking at me expectantly every day... there's certainly someone else that's much closer with the ability to rescue it than me, but didn't do it; so I went ahead. I found that the cost of buying added to shipping to NY added up to $1300-1400; not bad at all for a keeper, but upside down for any other purpose. So being that I didn't necessarily want it for myself, I took JP up on his offer to be the backup plan. He and Dave can team up and sell it without the added shipping, which means they can market it and get it to a new home; no huge money to be made, but it gets one more chance- which was after all the main goal!

I maintain my willingness to stand up for wayward Studes, including this one if need be. I had a low bid of $715 from OK to NY- 1400 miles- can't argue with that! A good tip: If you need shipping, check out haulingdepot.com and follow the directions; you'll start getting responses in as little as a half-hour! Great site[8D]

Back OT- Nothing wrong with giving a reasonable opinion price, especially when someone has a price that's way too high followed by "firm"... I think the objection was to the low-ball number and poke in the eye[B)] (Sorry Steve, no offense[:X])
