Adapting M 5 temperature gage to Stude V8.

I am trying to use a temperature gage adapter from a six volt V8 to hook up the temperature gage from the M5. Since this is not an electronic sending unit it requires an adapter that holds the unit in place to avoid water leak.
If anyone used this set up please tell me what they used.

I have the original M5 temperature gauge hooked up to the 259 in my
M. I used a standard 1/2-inch pipe to mechanical sending unit adapter for modern guages. As far as I know, they are all the same and should be available at any FLAPS that has a decent counter person.
