  • Big Six- HELP WANTED!!!!!!!!

    Looking for help. I was able to get our 1926 Studebaker big six/ Bickle Fire truck out of storage. The motor problems are quite big I have been told. The gentleman who re-did our motor in 2003 thinks that the crank shaft is broken. We are going to pull the pan tomorrow to confirm his diagnosis. I'm looking for respectable Studebaker Mechanic near Toronto to take our Stud! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    This truck is the last of three of it's kind. I do not want to replace the motor with a GM or a Ford which has been suggested to me.

    Thanks in advance
    Alan

    Al - when we were talking at the swap meet last weekend, I forgot to mention a guy named Dick Petty of Burford, Ontario. He owns or is in partnership in a machine shop there that also does babbiting. He may be able to help. He has extensive Stude experience and has owned antique Studes himself.
    I don't have his number, and didn't look it up before rushing to replt to this post, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard.

      Hey Roger;

      I was talking to Fred Allan the man who re-did our motor before. Mr. Petty did the Babets for us then. I was under the impression that Dick had retired???

        Just talking to Andy H. and he said that he gave you Dick's number the other day. Andy has two Big Six cranks in stock!

          Andy said that Dick still has his hand in the trade. And still aactive in the Historic Automobile Society of Canada(HASC).
