Oil Breather Chrome Cap

My Oil Breather Chrome Cap 1/2 inch snap-in had its rubber Grammet cracked. I went to 3 differ auto stores looking for this rubber grammit. None of them have this item. What can I wrap around the metal tube to keep the Chrome cap seated inside the Avanti alum valve cover 1/2 in hole ? It needs a tight seal. I tried black masking tape. Forget that.I even purchased a new chrome 1/2 cap but the Grammit was too big for the hole.

I could glue back together the old grammit and hope it stays in one piece. This is my last resort.

I'm guessing that this is an Avanti II? should be a FLAPS item, or worst case a Chevy dealer (ask for one for a similar year Corvette.)

We all know what oil cap goes on the stock Studebaker engined Avantis: (Studebaker 1558194 $50.00 a pair at S.I.), but have no idea what goes on a aftermarket Aluminum valve cover with grommets. Maybe without those, a stock one would fit. More info please![:0]

You may have to go to Mr. Gasket or anyother hi performance Mfg. I found my in Mr. Gasket catalog.

Success !!!! Found it at another PEP BOYS near my house. Fit fine and now locked down tight.

It was a $2.99 Motormite PCV VALVE GROMMET #42055.
