I got the fuel pump working again, but the power steering doesnt, I
think I can muscle it over to Ryon Park since its right here in town
(& the leaks 'stopped'). Unfortunately I have a little problem, its a
'63 Avanti, but I dont see a class to enter it in!! Which one would
YOU pick? "#9 Custom"? I will be outgunned. Not "Restored", it sure
isnt a "Daily Driver", not an "Import", or "Exotic". Hmmmmm.

Tom

PS: Think they will get many "Cameros"?

Ask if you can stretch the year criteria a bit and enter it as a muscle car.
Or maybe an "antique"...after all it is a 44 year old orphan!

I hear yah Bams50, but if I am gonna pay the 25 buck entrance fee, I
sure want to check a box.:D

I could pop the "Studebaker" script off the rear, enter it in 'Import',
and no one would be the wiser. It was made in Canada right??;)

Don't know what to tell you, Tom... when I go to a show around here with my convertible, I never enter; thus I have "no class"........

Hey,Tom

I see several possible categories for your Avanti.

1 - Daily Driver (up to 1985) Definitely could be! It starts, stops, and sometimes steers

2 - Antique Cars (pre-32)No- It will still look new in 2032

3 - Street Rods (open pre-32)
4 - Street Rods (closed pre-32)
5 - Street Rods (open 32-49)
6 - Street Rods (closed 32-49)
7 - Restored (1932-58)

8 - Restored (1959-74)Good category- No one could judge you as none stock, since no one there knows what an Avanti should be

9 - Custom/HandCrafted Cars- Excellent category, tell them you crafted the fiberglass body in your garage, created your own style 289 engine with no interchangeble parts with Ford, hand.built braking system

10- Competition/Pro Street - Yes. Challenge them to a race on the salt or at the drags

11- T-Bird (all)
12- Corvette (all)
13- Mustang/Camero (all)
14- Muscle Cars (1964-71)
15- Import Cars (to pres)
15a-VW's (air cooled)
16- Import Modified Cars

17- Exotic Cars (to pres) Definitely!!!

18- Trucks (up to 1960)
19- Trucks (1961-present)
20- Custom Motorcycles
21- Antique M

Alan,

I think you are adding to what I was pointing out, but just in case I
do know how to spell "Camaro", the text I pulled from the entry form
has it spelled wrong. But, I want to go for sure, since I have never
seen a Camero before. Sounds Italian, could be Russian. Maybe its a
knock off of the American muscle car called Camaro, those Russians are
known to copy the look of our stuff, remember their Space Shuttle?;)

Yah .. its weird .. it fits into a few different catagories, but not
squarely into any. I feel that "Custom or HandCrafted" is the best
one, with the changes I have made that are truely "Handcrafted", and
the car is definately a "Custom". Its a benefit to help out some guy
who has cancer, so its 25 bucks well spent, I think. I just want to
be able to pick a box.[:p]

The one problem I found when entering my Avanti in the stock class is the judges give you deductions because of all the chrome and stainless under the hood. I had to lay a coppy of a pamplet from Studebaker listing those items as original equipment. Any pictures or documentation you can lay around for view seams to help. Also display the glove box openned with an old Coke bottle on it and the vanity pulled out with some makeup articles in it. It may not get you judging points but the gals love it.
