    What's the consensus on using Amsoil in these old heaps? I've got
    a dealer telling me it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

    Amsoil dealers do tend to do that.

    Personally, I'd have no problems using Amsoil or any quality brand synthetic in a Studebaker engine, if that engine did not leak or burn oil. If it burns or leaks oil, chances are it will burn or leak more of the synthetic, and that stuff is expensive.
