As Elections Coordinator for SDC, I am posting a Call for Nominations for the 2020-2022 Term for the positions indicated.
Every year the Studebaker Drivers Club conducts elections for half the Zones. The time for nominations for the 2020-2022 term is NOW. SDC members can nominate themselves or another member. We look for people who want to contribute to SDC to help make it the best club it can be. We always look for some new players.
Nominees must be SDC members in good standing, who must be residing in the Zone or Region being represented. If you are nominating another person, be sure to confirm the nominee is willing to perform the responsibilities of the office. The terms of office are for two years.
Nominations are now being accepted for NATIONAL DIRECTORS and ZONE COORDINATORS for the following Zones: Atlantic Zone, North Central Zone, Pacific Southwest Zone, Southeast Zone, Upper Mississippi Valley Zone. The two year terms will commence April 15th 2020.
Nominees are now being accepted for REGIONAL MANAGERS for the following Zones: Crossroads Zone, International Zone, Northeast Zone, Pacific Can-Am Zone, South Central Zone. The two years terms will commence April 15th 2020.
The Job Descriptions are as follows.
The NATIONAL DIRECTOR represents the Zone at the annual National Board Meeting, scheduled Conference Call Board Meetings, the annual General Membership Meeting and special meetings called by the SDC President. The National Director communicates with, and maintains a good relationship with the Zone Coordinator and the Regional Managers. National Directors are elected for two years and are restricted to THREE CONSECUTIVE TERM LIMITATIONS.
The ZONE COORDINATOR'S primary focus is the Chapters within the Zone. Each Zone will have a Zone Coordinator (ZC) reporting directly to the Zone National Director. The ZC will receive a monthly report from the SDC Membership Secretary which contains new, renewed, and members who are delinquent within the past 30 days. The ZC will assist Chapters in developing membership applications, utilize the SDC data membership base to verify all Chapter merbers are also members of SDC, assist with Chapter newsletters, see that all important Chapter events are sent to the club Webmaster, club Facebook Administrator, "What's Happening", and other social media services to promote SDC in as many avenues as possible. The ZC is responsible for the administration and coordination of Zone Meets and will assist the host Chapter in coordinating the Zone Meets.and serves as liaison between the Chapters and Regions within that Zone, ensuring that they have the volunteers and the tools necessary to conduct a successful Zone Meet. The ZC will maintain a current list of Chapters and Chapter Officers within the Zone, this information to be forwarded to the Chapter Charter Administrator. The ZC should be in contact with the Chapter, making every attempt to ensure each Chapter that SDC is there to help and support their Chapter.. The ZC must be a member of SDC, in good standing, residing in the Zone. Before the election he/she must submit a statement in writing that he/she is willing to accept the responsibilities and duties of the office if elected. The term of a ZC will be two years but not subject to term limits, beginning April 15th of the year of election and until a successor is qualified and elected. If a ZC is unable or unwilling to the two year term, the National Director will assume the position for the remainder of the term. If the National Director is unable or unwilling to serve, the SDC President may appoint a temporary ZC from that Zone.
The REGIONAL MANAGER'S primary focus is membership, welcoming new SDC members, and retention of existing members. Each Region within a Zone will have a RM who will report directly to the National Director. The RM will receive a monthly report from the SDC Membership Secretary which contains a listing of all new members and those whose membership in that Region has expired. The RM should welcome all new members to SDC, supply them with a "New Member Kit", guide them to the nearest local Chapter and notify the Chapter President and Membership Secretary so they can also welcome the new member to their Chapter. The "New Member Kit" should contain a cover letter, the SDC Vision and Mission Statements and local Chapter membership application. The RM should seek the assistance of the Chapter Membership Secretary in contacting members who have let their memberships expire, providing they have a Chapter affiliation, to make sure they didn't forget to renew their membership. Downloadable templates of sample letters, welcome and expired memberships, will be available to the RM and chapter membership secretaries to use as tools to assist them with SDC membership retention goals. Reimbursement for postage and envelopes is available from the SDC Treasurer via expense report (save receipts). The term for a RM will be two years but not subject to term limits, beginning on April 15th of the year of election and until a successor is elected and qualified. A RM must be a member in good standing, a resident in the Region and willing to post contact information and before the election or confirmation must submit a statement in writing that he/she is willing to accept the responsibilities and duties of the office. In the event of a vacancy of a RM position or to organize a new area, the SDC President may appoint a member from that area to act as RM until the next scheduled election. The SDC President may leave the office of RM vacant if there is no appropriate member in good standing living in the Region to appoint to the position.
