  • Body / Glass: Hawk dash rattle

I want to thank the forum for preserving my sanity after spending a bunch of time trying to isolate a heavy rattle coming from the dash of my '62. I prodded, pulled, rubber hammered everything I could and couldn't find a thing. I even suspected there might be a small wrench left under the windshield trim (but I never got that far). Last night I did a forum search using "dash rattle" and got several threads. The advice that stood out was to check the anti-rattle rubbers on the rear of the hood torsion bar. Bingo, both of them had migrated to the far passenger side of the bar and were as hard as 57 years above a hot engine could make them. Cheap fix using pieces of fuel hose and voila! I can't say the chassis is as quiet as my Honda, but it's damn close!

Thank you for posting this and using advice given here.
Sometimes we get pushback on things that some of us have a lot of experience with.
Input such as this one of yours makes me want to continue spending time here and trying to help where I can.
