Thanks for posting, Steve, from all of us who are Avanti fans. This inspires me to get my a** in gear and finish my Avanti projects.

Impresive. I can't imagine that there is much Studebaker in the car besides the body.

I believe I remember seeing video of this car running this last year and there was some mention of it running a GM drive train. I do not recall the details. I'm sure someone who knows will chime in here soon.

I found these videos of Peter & Sari Ullrich's Avanti just this past month - outside of the forum (most my time lately has been spent working on my two Avantis that always want what the other just got).

That said .. I think the video from 2018 is more impressively shot (see below).. just a gorgeous video, and a gorgeous car. I sent a message to the chapter in Aussieland their name is listed, but have yet to hear back. The car SOUNDS like an LS motor with a Maggie (Magnuson), but I could be wrong. I watched a few videos of a stock R2 and it has a similar whine. It could also be gear whine I guess. I would love to know more about this car! Aussie members .. what do you know?

The youtube videos of the Avanti running the Targa Tasmania are one of my gotos. If I'm feeling down I put one of them on and the sound of the Avanti going through the forests and some of the visual shots are exceptional. Music to my ears and a delight to the sensors. Almost audio-porn.

The way that thing starts going sideways coming off of a turn, tells me it has a LOT more Cubes & H.P. than a Studebaker, it is Quick AND Fast!
Doesn't sound as good as a Supercharged Studebaker though!

Great video. I suspect that this Avanti is not using a stock suspension. The front fenders have been reshaped and it appears to not have leaf springs in the rear. Possible a different front suspension and coil-overs replacing the leaf springs.

Does all this mean that the old saying: "Beauty is only skin deep" is true ?

The front fenders do appear to be pulled out for wider tires, but it may still have stock suspension. As the pictures below show, its definitely still running rear leaf springs. If for some reason you can not see my pictures, pause the 2018 video at 2:25 and witness the stagecoach suspension is still making things happen. Also notice both the right front AND right rear see air underneath in this turn...

As for it not having a Studebaker powerplant, I agree its most likely, but rear end movement in light rear Avanti IS still very possible with Stude motivation.

You might be correct. There are two videos regarding this car. You might have noticed the lower rear body panel that covers the rear leaf shackle has been filled in. So this car would have to have shorter leaf springs, which is possible, but I still believe that this car has a four link and coil overs. It would be great to have more information on this car from the owner.
It would solve all our questions

I noticed the box rear was filled, but thats just to cover the vertical bumper opening. The leafs appear to be stock length.

I agree some undercarriage and engine pictures would put us all at ease!!
