  • Fuel System: 62 GT Fuel Tank

Any advice on removing the gas tank from my 62 GT? I can't get a good grip on the bolt heads. Many thanks, John Taylor

Maybe one of these sockets would work. I think Sears used to sell them. SK calls them turbo sockets.

A 6 Point Socket is always better than a 16 Point!

I have tried a nut splitter but a cut off wheel in a die grunder works best unless bolts are upside down.if you can center punch the head use a 7/16 bit to drill the head. a "Manifold" wrench has the proper offset to hold but 6 point is a bit scarce.Luck Doofus

They can be awful! Don't make sparks around the gas tank! I do have that Craftsman tool a they do work. WD-40. You can get a 3/8 drive breaker with a 6 pt socket on the bolt head on the top of the frame rail. Then put impact on nut. I replaced the originals with SS bolts
