I recently came into possesion of a sales contract, retail delivery form, and invoice for a 1954 Commander Regal Conestoga wagon, serial number 8375060 and engine number V306420. Does anyone on the Forum own this car?
The car was sold (new) on May 7, 1954 by the J.R. Townsend Co. Inc, located in San Diego CA. The interesting thing is that the car was to be picked up (ie, Retail Delivery) at the factory in South Bend. The papers were in a J.R. Townsend envelope, addressed to "The Studebaker Corporation, South Bend, Indiana, Attention: Delivery Department".
The options on the car were as follows:
Wet Air Cleaner
AC2630 Climatizer
AC2604 Directional Signals
AC2300 Radio
AC2304 Antenna
AC2485 Fog Lights & Grille Guard
Serviced for Retail Delivery
Cash price including Accessories was $3131.49, and $109.60 State Sales Tax.
The original purchaser was H.E. Nething, and was likely in the Navy judging by the Fleet Post Office - San Francisco address.
It sure would be great to find out that this car still exists.......
