A VERY special 53 coming up for auction - One of Ed Ellis' cars

Ed has decided to sell his hemi powered 53 Hardtop.



In December, Ed had this car in a prestigious East Coast show. The car is pictured and described in this forum thread about that show...

Normally a 53K restomod finished to the level of this car would be all it would take to make it one of the most special ones in existence....but this car goes that one better with the Gene Adams hemi. Anyone into hot rods will be familiar with the name Gene Adams. He is THE guru of 1st gen Chrysler Hemis. A Gene Adams hemi is the best of the best. This one is backed by a T10 and 9" Ford.

Ed is selling this car NO RESERVE at the upcoming Barrett Jackson Palm Beach auction on April 11-13.

I can go along with having thousands on deposit with them (B-J) in order to bid off-site. I do have a problem with paying $100, non-refundable, for the privilege of bidding AND paying a higher percentage buyer's premium than those at the auction.

You have to pay a fee to bid even if you are there, but the premium is a little lower. It seems like they should be more concerned with getting the best price for the item, not in collecting auction fees. I participate in many auctions where I do not have to pay a fee to bid whether I am there or not.

For what it may be worth -

Gene was/is better known for his expertise in tuning mechanical fuel injection, mostly port injection. Don't get me wrong, he builds a killer first generation Hemi, but he has clientele lined up waiting for his injection tuning.
