  • I only know Richard Quinn thru TW but....

...The book I bought on Ebay from him, "1953 Inside Facts" was so much BETTER than described, it is almost unbelievable. Beautiful printing as well as binding AND shipping so fast I almost couldn't believe it. He didn't even wait for my check to clear!! What a guy!

That makes me a little nervous. I clicked the Buy-It-Now and paid for one of the three with PayPal within minutes of the posting on the Forum (2/12) and I don't have mine. I'm closer to him than you too.

Richard Quinn is definitely a Notable in Studebakering. I've enjoyed his writing, and will be looking forward to owning a copy of that book. Glad you mentioned it.

Well, John thanks a million for the unsolicited testimonial! I just checked the inventory and I am down to one left to sell!! I do not have any plans to redo them once it sells. They are expensive to make and the price I pay is determined by the quantity ordered.

As for yours Paul there is a reason it has not arrived. Apparently you do not keep a balance in your Paypal account so when you started the payment process on Feb 12 I received an email from Paypal telling me that your payment was not "cleared." The message as follows:

                Dear Richard Quinn,

This email confirms that you have received a Pending eCheck Instant Purchase Payment for $106.50 USD from Paul Johnson.

This eCheck Payment will remain "Uncleared" until the funds have cleared from the sender's account, which usually takes 4 business days. If you are shipping an item, please do not ship your item until the funds have cleared into your PayPal account. You will be notified by email when the funds have cleared into your PayPal balance.

It was several days before it "cleared." As soon as it did your book was in the mail the same day. It is winging its way to you at this moment via Priority mail. If your payment had cleared on the 12th you could now be curled up next to the fire perusing your 1953 Inside Facts Book!

Thanks very much. When I re-read my post it appeared to be a complaint. Actually, I was concerned about about the book being lost in the mail. That PayPal e-check clearing thing really annoys me. I see it took seven days for it to clear (which is ridiculous). I may have to re-think leaving a balance in my PayPal account, but I hate to have eBay using my money when I am drawing a little interest from it in my bank account.
Anyhow, I will be anxiously awaiting the book. I had looked for a '53 Fact Book since the late 60s, but never knew that it was so limited until I talked to Frank Drumheller a couple years ago.

I just tie my PayPal account to a Visa card so when I pay for something it is processed immediately.
