  • Copper Studebaker tag

A pal found a copper Studebaker serial number tag while metal detecting. He sent me a picture, but frankly it's potato quality. Long tag, with 2 rivet holes. I figured it came off a buggy or wagon. Anyone have more info to direct me?

Here are two tags from one of the 1908 Congressional subway electric cars; but I believe they are brass.

Here's one I have. Not sure what it's off of. Looks like it's made to be attached through wood.

If it is really Copper and not Brass, it could be really different. Not sure the exact start and stop point, but the 'body built by Studebaker' Dwain has went on the dash of many 1920's cars up to about 34.

Even "potato quality" might be better than nothing to at least narrow the search.

If they could have lightly rubbed it off one may read it better. I see it says Studebaker second line from the bottom. It also looks like a few letters after Studebaker, so yes it is from the old days. The bottom line says South Bend, Indiana.
