  • '57 Golden Hawk at B-J Auction

A very nice appearing, black, 1957 Golden Hawk was just sold at the B-J auction in Scotsdale.

Mike Joy referred to it as a "muscle car" and said other nice things about it. I believe that he did say that the 1958 (not 1956) used the Packard engine. He also made a statement that the 289 was a Studebaker engine and not a Ford engine.

    It sold for $25K!!

It was a good looking car, but had the 56 Golden Hawk interior. Which looks far better IMHO.

They announced that it had a 3 speed w/overdrive manual transmission; that would make it pretty unusual.

'56 Golden Hawk (3 speed/overdrive, Power steering - Running, but not yet driving)
'58 Packard Hawk. A partially restored car that was not completely assembled.

My 1957 Golden Hawk was also black and had std./overdrive, along with power windows and power seat.

And that car is coming to Canada!!! Our long time friend and former Studebaker dealer in Thunder Bay has just emailed me to advise of his purchase. This is a really neat buy.

I met the seller of that car on Monday. He is a member of the Forum here. I will leave it to him to pop in and talk about it.

In the same auction, sold close together, were a stock 1957 Chevrolet and a stock 1959 Buick that each sold for $150,000 - six times what the 1957 Golden Hawk brought.
