  • Electrical: 1962 GT Hawk plastic front fender "ornaments"

On a '62 GT Hawk are the plastic "blades" supposed to illuminate when the lights are on? If so, is this illumination an option, or do they all come that way?

    Thanks

1962 GT Hawk fender spears do not light up however the 1963 and 1964 fender spears do light up.

All you would need is to drill a hole in the fender under the plastic spear and make a mounting cup for a small led light on the bottom side of the fender. That's all Studebaker did only they used a small regular bulb.

The ‘63 - ‘64 1353741 Socket Assembly and 1353655 Lower Cover are listed in the current Studebaker International Catalog, page 207.

I made mine light up. I brazed a short tube between a washer and a plate that mounts on the two "spear" trim studs under the fender that accepts a socket with a small LED bulb. then drilled a hole in the fender for the light to show through. I wired them to the parking light, works great. Sorry about the upside down pics. This site always turns my pics unside down.
