Methinks I need a new set of front brake drums for my 3/4 ton Transtar. I had almost forgotten that when the mechanic put in new king pins for me that he mentioned the front drums were pretty well used up. Had a stop sign sneak up on me the other day, and got down on the brakes HARD. The brake pedal went down enough that the right half of my right foot wound up pressing on the accelerator. Goliath was confused. On one hand (foot <g>) I was telling him to stop, and on the other (actually the same (hand/foot,)) I was telling him to GO! I’m sure, after reading that, you can relate to Big G’s confusion. I know I can. We wound up in the middle of the intersection, with both of us saying, “What the H***!” Could extremely worn brake drums cause this... dare I say... "Conundrum?” I think all other items in the brake system are fine.

Dave,
The pedal wouldn't "go low" because of worn brake drums. It is most likely brakes out of adjustment. Could also be bad master cylinder or wheel cylinders, or the master cylinder push rod out of adjustment.

"A conundrum is a puzzling question. In one variety of conundrum, the question is posed as a riddle and the answer is or involves a pun. More broadly, a conundrum is any problem where the answer is very complex, possibly unsolvable without deep investigation. A mystery or paradox can often be phrased as a conundrum"
