  • Is My 1950 Road Draft Tube Missing Some Parts?

Here is something I never thought about until the other day when I was under my Studebaker and noticed 2 small holes in the road draft tube.
Am I missing a wire mesh and a cotter pin through the 2 small holes to hold the mesh in place?
I wish my other Studebakers were close by, so I could check them out.

Usually, people put in a chunk of a stainless steel pot scrubber....held in with a cotter pin..
Just loose pack to keep bugs out...

That's the thin wall steel pipe that hangs down to about the bottom of the oil pan to vent engine fumes.
The air should enter the oil fill cap, which the half hood on the cap helps capture the air from the radiator fan.
The air then vents out the road draft tube.

Thanks, I'll have to remember this the next time I go to the junk yard.
