Lets see, I have 4 Studebaker V8 engines on stands waiting for cars, but I'm still tempted. How sweet would that drive line be in say a 53-54 C-K or better yet, my 2 door 57 wagon.

Go for it, you have no idea what fun is is to have a torque monster Caddy powered Studebaker. Find like a 2:50 rear end, add AC and cruise in comfort. (70 MPH at 2000 RPM)

FWIW, the '08 Escalade I rented last week had the 6.2l V8 with the new 6-speed auto. Tallest gear I've ever seen in a big gas rig - cruised at 80 @ 2,000 RPMS. Nice ride, if you like 'em tall in the saddle.

FWIW, the '08 Escalade I rented last week had the 6.2l V8 with the new 6-speed auto. Tallest gear I've ever seen in a big gas rig - cruised at 80 @ 2,000 RPMS. Nice ride, if you like 'em tall in the saddle.

Boat anchor selector (based on weight)
Studebaker 289 cu.in. 650 lbs.
Caddy 500 cu.in 625 lbs.
The GM aluminum transmission/bell housings is much lighter too.

Calvin has a setup like that for sale...already mounted in a prepped '54 chassis.....and has the whole '54 donor car to go with it.
