  • Other: 1949 Studebaker Truck VIN Tag

My friend purchased a 1949 Studebaker truck. He is interested in what the original front and rear bumpers look like and other
information the VIN tag can provide. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, too small and not enlargeable Photo. It would be better if you just typed the Model Code and Serial Number here.

The Serial Number Plate identifies what you can already see: a 1/2 or 3/4 Ton Truck with a Champion Small Six or a Commander larger Six, very little other details are on the Serial Number (NOT VIN) Plate.
You need the Production Order from the Studebaker National Museum.

ID:	1721698 Factory Rear Bumpers like this are very rarely ever found today.

These 15 Inch Wheel Covers are from a 1959 Lark.

Not to mention the fact that many of the trucks of that vintage were delivered with NO rear bumper.
Agree with Rich; even if we could read your friends Serial No. tag, it would only reveal a route to the production order.
