Got my mellowtone mufflers installed on a 1955 hdtp coupe. Sounds nice! While admiring the sound we noticed a water leak. Muffler guy raised the car and saw radiator leaking down through a seam on the bottom tank.(maybe). Anyone know a source? My car dealer friend called his sources and they don't carry a 55 Studebaker radiator. My mechanic said as a rule has to re-cored($380) for the core alone!(ouch) thanks, Ernie

Yes, if the core is bad it will have to be recored. My guy in Wash. wants $323.00 for a 2 row re-core, $423.00 for a three Row. Usually a bottom tank leak can be repaired by a knowledgeable Radiator Shop.
I do not believe there EVER were any new radiators for Studebakers (aftermarket) all there WERE are the new (NOS) ones at Dealers and Studebaker warehouses.

If it just leaking at a seam, have a good radiator shop repair it. The trick is finding a good radiator shop, now that radiators are plastic and aluminum.

In the event a recore is needed, it's an expense worth making. The only place I want my blocks to cook is in a machine shop!
