  • Late model heavy duty series

    I notice (at least for the '66 models) that Stude listed the Y1 series as "heavy duty Taxi", and the Y3 series as "heavy duty sedan". What were the differences between the 2?

    The HD Sedans were mostly sold as Police Cars, so had different Special Equipment, like Much MORE V8 Power options, Pursuit Marshals had "High Speed" bolstered Driver's Seat, Dual Dome Lights, Calibrated 120, 140 or 160 MPH Speedometer, etc, etc. they would also have the Zippered Headliner like the Taxi.

      I think the chassis manual had an additional section in the back that had all that fleet equipment parts - or many of them - much of it seems electrical like a 60 amp alternator for a six cylinder Lark...
