  • Rear Axle: Did Studebaker ever use a posi in 1960 on a Hawk?

I am dissembling a rolling 1960 chassis and am trying to decide what I should sell off. I don't have a lot of storage space so cannot afford the space to store anything that is not a hard-to-find part. If it is not a posi and anyone needs a rear axle for a Hawk send me a PM with a fair offer. Thanks.

Yes. I owned a '60 Hawk with 3-speed OD and TT.

If you offer it for sale, you should provide the ratio to buyers.

BTW, Studebaker called positraction "Twin Traction."

IIRC, TwinTraction was offered as an option in all '58-and-up Stude cars and light trucks.

First year for TT was 1957 on cars as optional equipment in all ratios. per service bulletin No 318 Sept. 1956

1956 for light trucks and 1957 for cars.

The Key word here is "OPTION"!

NO, '60 Hawks did not "COME WITH" Twin Traction.

                Could they? YES!

I once owned a 1957 President Classic with Twin Traction. Even had factory air! Production order verified. Beautiful car!

Sorry about the poor quality of the picture, it's a copy of a copy! You can barely see the "TT" emblem on the trunk.

Thanks for all the responses. Any easy way to tell if it is a TT unit?
