I was wondering as the interior light switches are prone to failing has anyone taken one apart and restored it to a good working order , ? Thanks in advance for your reply's Ray

Ray, is this the switch in the roof lamp itself or the door pillar switches? Both can be pulled apart

Those switches are notorious for failing and being "Touchy", non-functional or Intermittent.
They appear to be a standard Hardware Store 110 Volt slide switch item that could be soldered in, IF you could find a "Quality" one.

On my 62 GT Hawk, the interior light is not currently working at all. But assuming I can get it working, my question is:
Is it designed so the light will come on when the door opens? I would hope so, but wanted to verify.

              Thanks.

Yes, you will see the Door Switches mentioned in Post #2 on both "A" Pillars.

Yes, it's pretty easy. Make sure you mark the direction it came off, or it may end up opposite of what you started. DAMHIK. Bend the tabs enough to get it out. Clean contacts, use a little die-electric grease and reinstall. The tabs are unforgiving and may break if you have to take it apart more than once. If it's the door switches, you can remove and clean the contacts as well. Tie a string to the wiring to keep it from falling back inside.
