  • Decoding "Future" as part of the Model & Body Type - 1955 Commander

The production order for my 1955 Commander has the Model and Body Type listed as 16G8-C3 Future. Where do I go to decode "Future"? I understand the rest of the info as I have a 2 dr coupe. I also believe the C3 to mean the car started with Deluxe trim. Does the fact that the car has had the butter knife chrome down the side have anything to do with a Deluxe trim car having Future in the description? Thanks for any light you can shed!

I believe I just read in TW on page 35 that "Future" is the code word for Commander Deluxe 5-passenger Coupe with an automatic transmission.

That is Code that was used with Western Union Teletypes, Orders and other Communications. I believe they did Charge by the LETTER!

A C3 with Butter Knife body side mouldings, would have been Dealer or Owner modified.

Thanks, I should have read the new issue more thoroughly!
Is there a way to tell if the mouldings were dealer installed?

Sorry, NO unless the Car came with the Sale Invoice adding them, or a Receipt for them from the Dealer Parts and or Service Dept.
